Ogilvie Mountains

Late one night, nestled in the Yukon wilderness several hundred kilometers from civilization, I waited for the Aurora Borealis that never came. As luck would have it, I was blessed with this beautiful scene. Over the years, I’ve learned that simply being prepared to be surprised by nature usually results in an amazing experience. If it were to always play out the way you expect, it would get boring. I took this shot around midnight while the Arctic sky still had enough light, and the moon was in position above the snow-capped mountains.

I am always happy when I have the opportunity to put myself in the path of such magnificent landscapes. After completing my work that night, I camped under the Arctic glow while dreaming of these beautiful mountains. The next morning, I would break down camp and head North to the ice and more adventure to come…
